Mahalakshmi is a rare combination of various talents – an entrepreneur, professional singer, RJ, trained dancer and part-time model. She has a Masters in Economics and an MBA from Chicago, USA. After working as Senior Manager for a large mortgage firm in the U.S. for over a decade, she decided to quit her very successful corporate career to pursue her passion for singing.
She received her initial training in Carnatic music from her mother Smt. Sharada Krishnan, daughter of Shri Yogacharya Sundaram who was an ace composer in his time. He has over 800 compositions to his credit mainly known for its richness in poetry and tamil literature. Currently, she is learning music from Smt. Lalitha Sivakumar in Chennai.

Mahalakshmi has given over 150 stage shows and has performed live with leading playback singers such as Padmashree Yesudas, P.Susheela and Hariharan. She was also featured as an anchor and as a singer in the popular music show thullaadha manamum thullum in Chennai TV (doordarshan).

The heartfelt, coming-of-age, family comedy GROWING UP SMITH, directed by Frank Lotito and starring Jason Lee (My Name is Earl) and Anjul Nigam (Bad Words and True Detective), has been slated for a release in Sugar Land, Texas, on Friday, April 21st, @ AMC 24, First Colony Mall.

Virtuosi Performing Arts presents a unique dance drama ‘Fisherman and Mermaid’ based on a French story by Oscar Wilde. The music transcends European, Latin, Arabic and Indian art form.
