Rock group Shivering Timbers will be coming through the station today at 6:00 PM to perform live on the air! Be sure to tune in, you're not going to want to miss it!
They'll be playing a show over at Dean's Credit Clothing at 316 Main today at 11:00 (Show is 18+, sorry kiddos!)
Their haunting, fuzzy garage sound is something we really enjoy here at KTRU, and their music is available for listen on their website.

From Houston by way of Utah, Whitney Mower fronts Deseret, who dropped by the studio this week to show off some lyrical/musical chops. Dig the slide guitar, subtle phrasing, and the roaring solo in the third track - they have a windy, thoughtful sound. We're giving you four because they came out so well.

In celebration of hitting over 808 likes on our Facebook Page, we'll be giving away a whole bunch of tickets to different shows around Houston! These shows all occur in the next few months and are sure to be GREAT.

We've got a big Tuesday night planned out for you here on KTRU Rice Radio.
To start things off at 8PM, The Local Show will be playing host to local band Infinite Apaches, who will give a live performance and allow us to pick their brains!
Afterwards at 10PM, The Vinyl Frontier will play host to local producer Trakksounds. Additionally, we'll be giving away more tickets to see Wale at House of Blues tomorrow night, courtesy of ScoreMore Shows.

The Handshake are a really rad power trio from town who played the show last summer - they're one of those bands who you hear a second of as you're walking past, become immediately hooked, and before you know it you're late for the thing you had to be at, or that's what happened to me at least. Some great local acts are playing at Walter's this Saturday (1/26) night. Quiet Company, Benjamin Wesley and Adam Bricks are playing a show starting at 9 PM.
